Meet the Principal

Mary Kate Boesch, principal of Chester Elementary School, loves the small town feel and sense of community here in Chester. She created a monthly newsletter for parents to stay as up-to-date as possible in their child’s school lives, which was especially helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic. This newsletter was so loved it eventually grew to encompass the entire district. She also worked with the support of teachers to welcome PBIS back into CES. Students, teachers and staff are recognized for their positive behaviors, actions and attitudes.

Previously, Ms. Boesch worked as the assistant principal of Sullivan County BOCES for two years and the assistant principal of Brooklyn Charter School for about six years. Prior to that, she was a teacher for over five years.

Ms. Boesch holds New York State Professional Certifications in Childhood Education Grades 1-6 and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6, and holds a Professional Certification as School Building Leader.

Ms. Boesch earned her undergraduate degree from State University of New York College at Potsdam in Art Studio and her graduate degree from State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. Furthermore, she has a degree in Special Education from Dowling College and a degree in Leadership in Mathematics Education from Bank Street College of Education.
